Google Sheets not working in Firefox

DrewLoker

I posted the following to FF Help...wanted to check to see if anybody else is having the issue.

For several updates now, I can not use ANY of my spreadsheets in Firefox. As soon as I open the document, the current cell goes to the bottom. I can click on a cell and regain control with arrow keys...but only for a short bit before the current cell goes to the bottom. This is consistent with multiple computers running Firefox. I have to open the Google Sheet to Chrome or Edge to use the document. This has been going on for several updates with Firefox...maybe 6 to 9 months, and I have been meaning to contact you all, but I just got a brand new laptop...installed FF...and WHAMO...Google Sheets doesn't work. Please help!!

Did you manage to find anything out? I'm having a similarly weird problem with Sheets—it seems to be OK when the window is maximized but, when it's not the first time it scrolls of screen suddenly when moving cells (using keys, or the mouse—doesn't matter), the screen is jumping all over and the selected-cell highlight border is not on the current cell... sometimes it even jumps between tabs!

Shaav, your description is exactly what's happening to me too! Maybe it's a Firefox bug with non-maximized windows in Sheets. Hoping someone from Mozilla can chime in.

Same problem on my OpenSuse Leap 15.6 system with Firefox 128.2.0esr, even with maximized windows. In fact, I cannot really work with Sheets anymore because I never know which cell is currently active...

Fortunately, I use multiple browsers. I use Chrome for my school (work) account ...and just take my spreadsheets to Chrome.

I hope FF fixes this, and somebody posts here when it is fixed, as I would prefer to have PERSONAL spreadsheets in FF and WORK spreadsheets in Chrome. But, the workaround does work. If you are ANTI Chrome, use Edge or Opera.

This started yesterday for me.  I can no longer edit my pivot table as the little editor pen icon doesn't show up. I can't sort my spreadsheet (Data / Sort Range / Advanced) as the little popup window doesn't show up.
I can't follow links.
I am forced to take everything to Chrome.

I have exactly the same problem. It's been like this for a couple weeks now. Have you found any solution?

No solutions yet. Sorry.

Same issue here.

In Google Sheets, I can no longer use the "delete sheet" or "conditional formatting" features, perhaps more. Can't be 100% sure, but it started happening since at least the latest FF update, perhaps 2.

I'm currently using FF 132.02 x64 on Windows 10.

Replying to my own message since I cannot edit it.

As suspected, more features have gone missing in Google Sheets with FF : searching with Ctrl+F no longer works, which is crippling to me. Is there a place other than this one where we can escalate bug reports please ?

I'd like to remain a devoted FF user for the times to come. Thank you for your attention.

Are you using the ClearURLs extension? I had the same issue, and it was resolved when I disabled it. If you don't have it, you could try disabling all extensions and then re-enabling them one at a time

That did the trick, thank you!

Agree, that worked and fixed all my strange issues related to sheets and firefox.  I removed ClearURL

This helped. Thank you.

Same issue here. Could we escalate this issue?

Hi, I am part of the Webcompat team for Mozilla, where we test compatibility issues. I was unable to reproduce any of the issues.

What I would do usually to test this kind of issue, is:

1. Type `about:profiles` in the url bar.
2. Choose `Create a new profile`.
3. Call it `deleteme` or anything you please.
4. Then start it. (this way you will be sure that nothing is interfering, no ghost caching etc.)- make sure account sync is not performed, as the extensions will be imported in the new profile.
5. Test.

Note: You can return to your old profile at any given time by accessing "about:profiles" in the address bar

It is definitely related to the ClearURLs extension, I disabled it as well and problem solved. Easy to reproduced. Enabled a bunch of other extensions to try it out, it only happens with ClearURLs.

Hi @rbucata, thanks for you reply. Yesterday @BigDataEnergy suggested to disable extension ClearURLs then my issue is now resolved.

For me, the tooltips don't show up when I want to click a link on Sheets. It works on other browsers.

I created an issue in ClearURL's rules on github: https://github.com/ClearURLs/Rules/issues/131 - Let's see if this will eventually lead to the solution of this issue.
