Firefox v.s. Windows 10 Multiple Desktops

I'm a heavy user of the virtual desktop feature in Windows 10.
Whenever I restart Firefox it forgets which window was on which virtual desktop. Every window opens on whichever desktop I'm currently viewing. This is particularly frustrating because I keep a lot of Firefox windows open, and even though I don't restart very often, moving them all to their respective desktops is rather a tedious chore.

I don't know if the issue lies with Windows 10 or Firefox but so far this misbehavior is exclusive to Firefox. Every other browser (Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi) keeps track of its windows with regard to virtual desktops. Not to mention essentially every other piece of software.

Firefox behaves as expected on Windows 11 .

Have you figured out what is happening?

I'm having the same issue... and whats annoying is that it WAS working fine until a few months ago for me and then suddenly stopped. ......

Well, kinda?   There are still times when windows end up on the right virtual desktops.  I haven't figured out when that is though.

Same problem on W11 - just starting now...

Every desktop shows all Firefox windows.

So you are saying that it works better with other Browsers?

Same problem here, on Ubuntu Linux, where the problem is new (about 1 or 2 weeks old by my reckoning); icons for Firefox windows show up (and crowd) every desktop. To make matters worse, Alt-Tab switches to Firefox from ANY desktop;  it is making my entire computer experience irritating to the point I'm considering getting rid of Firefox once and for all.

Windows 10 user here. Seems that several weeks ago this somehow broke my user experience too.

I've installed "Single Window Mode" to not spawn new windows every time I open the link somewhere, but it irritates me that Firefox window is now travelling between virtual desktops. If I have Firefox on workspace 1 and click on link in say Telegram on workspace 2, I would expect to be moved to workspace 1 and new tab in old Firefox instance. Now, with this extension, I fortunately get my new tab instead of whole new window, but the window itself is moved to workspace 2. Hell.

Maybe this is the problem? They say that setting widget.prefer_windows_on_current_virtual_desktop to false in about:config restores old behavior. But I didn't succeed in this endeavor yet.

It Works! You have to update to Firefox 145 though (now in Beta phase). Woohoo!
