Has anyone noticed the increased resources Firefox 132.0.1 uses as reported by Task Manager? No other process even approaches what Firefox now demands. Firefox is routinely using 50-100% more RAM (>800MB) than Edge (500MB) and it causes my desktop computer fans to rev. My laptop slows to a painful crawl when I open Firefox now. Shutdown Firefox and both simmer right down. What's going on?

Yes!!!!!!!! It is becoming worse and worse.

I'm here for obviously the same reason. I suddenly saw my M3 iMac breaching the 100% CPU usage and everything froze. Turned out it was Firefox. WTF.

Yes, same experience here. Current installed version - Firefox v.133 is still using HUGE amounts of RAM....example: right now the ONLY page I have open is this one. It's using 911mb of RAM!!!! Why?!!? Firefox has been slowing down since updating to v.132. I have tried every "trick" to improve performance, NOTHING WORKS. Please, Firefox team, HELP!! Thank you!

Not only is it eating up a ton of RAM, the latest update is awful! web pages that used to load instantly or in a second i am now waiting MINUTES to load. it's like my internet reverted to freaking DIAL UP! they need to be making it LEANER, not bloating the crap out of it!

Same here, for some reason according to task manager there's 11 instances of firefox running while I have it open once, with two tabs. Nearly 1 gig or ram being sucked up by it in total, it's stuttering and pausing all the time. The longer it's open the more resources it suck up until it becomes unusable.
I've used Firefox for decades, but am seriously considering changing now.

I just switch from Firefox to Edge. Firefox 137 not only uses twice as much resources as Edge does on both my Windows 10 LTSC laptop and Windows 11 Pro desktop, but also have severe memory leaking problem. And, as others said, Firefox always makes the fans spin loudly.

Hi everyone,
I'm not a coder, just a user – so please be gentle. I don't understand why Mozilla seems so inactive regarding the issues mentioned in this thread. I've noticed that Firefox consumes a lot of resources in the Task Manager and increasingly burdens my system. As a result, I can barely use Firefox anymore and often have to close it after only 4-6 tabs.
I've been using Firefox for a long time and I love it! It's really frustrating to have to end my session so many times a day.
Can I be sure that the Mozilla community is still working on these problems? Or is it perhaps possible that YouTube (Google), Amazon, and Microsoft are deliberately impairing Firefox with "bad" code? For me and my data, Firefox is so free, adaptable, flexible, friendly, and safe – is the fox therefore being hunted by some comrades?
These are just some questions that concern me.
Thanks

I agree with you. The browser (8 extensions installed) consumes me at least 1GB RAM even if I just open it and do nothing at all. The consumption goes up to over 2GB if I open 2-3 tabs. I can't believe this is actually happening! Why does Firefox need so many RAM to process just a few simple tabs? Compared with Edge, it literally just delivers the same result with just about 60% resource consumption of Firefox. I think the developers need to at least explain a little bit to us.

Dunno, for me seems fine - 7 tabs - 1.5GB of ram and I have enabled the new AI features...
I haven't used firefox as default browser since version 110 due to the bugs with infinite scroll and then falling behind the competition with both features and speed.
I've decided to give a chance to the latest version and man... it's fast. It feels very smooth, smoother than Vivaldi, on par with Edge.
At the same time the idle CPU usage seems to be lower for me, so I'm very happy. So happy in fact, that i've set it as default browser.
Note, this is on my windows PC, tomorrow i'll test it on my Mac, but I think it will be similar.
