In recent versions of Firefox (including ESR), the address bar no longer displays search engine icons directly below the typed query. Previously, it was possible to switch search engines with a single click by selecting one of the icons that appeared as suggestions while typing. This was a very convenient and efficient feature for users who frequently switch between search engines.
Now, switching search engines requires an extra click to open the dropdown menu, which slows down the workflow and reduces usability. This change feels like a regression in terms of user experience, especially for power users who rely on quick access to alternative search engines.
Please consider restoring the previous behavior or adding an option in the settings to enable search engine icons below the address bar suggestions. Having visual icons readily available made Firefox stand out and was one of its usability strengths.
Thank you for your consideration.
