Drag operation has been stopped working since the last time auto upgrading, neither drag-to-search nor drag-to-open.
I'm not sure if it's a bug in 136.0.1 version or not.
Kept using firefox for more than 10 years and I really love this convenient function, hope it would be fix soon.

Yes,i also meet this bug.
In firefox release 135,drag-to-open is normal operation.
So,i think this is bug in 136 version.
I also really love this convenient function, hope it would be fix more quickly.
Thanks.

I noticed drag-and-drop stopped working recently, for pretty much anything, including extensions, tabs, bookmarks, links, text, etc. The only working "drag" is to select text (afterwards, you cannot drag the block to copy/paste it)
Note: it works for the first minutes of Firefox being open, but then just stops working.
Note2: Sometimes (has happened less than 5 times total) a tab would randomly pop out, as if dragged out. I’m not even attempting to drag anything during those times, but I am moving the pointer and clicking stuff. It feels like the “drag” action is not aligned/in sync with the pointer (just me guessing)

Another note: Dragging file into a firefox windows works as expected, AFAIK.
Another note: The tabs suddenly popping out might be just this years-old bug 727420
-------
A bunch of bugs have been filed for drag and drop stuff last month: bugzilla search; most seem to be related to vertical tabs or tab-groups, tho.
Possible affected user: 1943200 seems like a "didn't read the docs" feature request (as you're supposed to be able to do this already), but if you factor in this bug, it might be someone that's unable to do it due to this (root) issue. To be clear: Now I cannot reorder the items either.
Probably unrelated but similar: 1922592 is similar, but seems to only apply to tabs (not my case) and only for those with preview thumbnails (also not my case).
Probably unrelated but similar: 1945440 points only to RTL mode, and moreover it's supposedly fixed.
Just for my thoughts: 1911144 and some others makes me believe that (somehow) mouse vs trackpad behave differently (I cannot see why would they only in firefox). I might try later when I get access to a mouse.
Very technical and I don't know the codebase, but maybe? 1936459
1637238 is a [meta] tracker for drag-and-drop issues. None of the open ones seem related.

I've been using v136 up until now but I see the update available for v137. I don't see anything related to bug fixing other than Security stuff, but maybe I get lucky. If I don't post back it probably means this got fixed (for me at least)

While your response was thorough with detailed data, but I don't consider this fortunate since because the issue remains unresolved.
And I hope to fix this bug as soon as possible, because this impacts my usage.
