Or did it happen from the Firefox side? I suspect Microsoft because of the regularly scheduled Japanese update, but nuking all of the cookies seems more like another hidden emergency. But it may have been an error on the Firefox side, which would be kind of funny considering how much emphasis Firefox is supposed to be putting on security these days...
