default columns on a new folder in Thunderbird

Where does Thunderbird get its default settings for which columns are displayed in new folders?

Is there a place where I can edit those default settings?

Or, can a folder be created using the same columns as its parent folder?

In all of the above, I ask that the default sort order be included in the column settings.

It is really annoying to have to reset which columns are displayed, and the sort order every time I create a new folder.

I agree.  Not only does it have to be done, but it has to be done in two places if I recall.

The situation is a gross quality-of-life defect.

I'm with ya. I wish there was an answer to this. So frustrating!

Fully agree.  The default columns setting is garbled and useless for me, both for which columns are shown, their width, and their position.
There should be an option for a folder that says "consider the columns and view of this folder as the default, and apply it from now on to any folder that is created or moved".
