ALT F D exits Firefox

I'm kind of old skool in that I always use keyboard shortcuts wherever possible to accomplish whatever I can. Like ALT F  C to close a tab. However I am always falling foul of ALT F  D (which isn't even listed on the file menu) when I accidentally press - because it instantly closes Firefox (!!)

What IS ALT F  D for ? ALT F  X is and always has been the option to exit.

Are there any options in about:config I can use to disable it ?

Johnny2, sorry but I don't know how to remove an option from the file menu.

alt F D is used to close the current window, as opposed to alt F X which exits Firefox (i.e. will close all open windows). It should be listed in the file menu as "Close Window Ctrl+Shift+W"

As a workaround you could use the following keys to accomplish tasks directly, without using the file menu (assuming that you weren't already aware of them):

Close Tab:
Ctrl + W
Ctrl + F4
- except for Pinned Tabs

Close Window:
Ctrl + Shift + W
Alt + F4

Exit:
Ctrl + Shift + Q
