A bug after the last update of Firefox in Windows

When I try to select a text in the middle of a web page, in order to copy it to the clipboard or to translate it, the page immediately scrolls up to the top.

Are you sure this is a bug in the latest version?  Was it not doing this on the site you're having the issue on previously?  I've encountered sites that do this going back at-least a year (Wikipedia, for one).

If it didn't do that previously, use Menu -> Help and Report -> Report Broken Site... to let them know.

Dear dftf,

Thank you for the early answer.I appreciate you spending your precious time.

After I posted my message, I tried to investigate this issue by myself, and this is what I've discovered.

I disabled and then enabled every installed extension in my browser .
I discovered that the culprit is the following extension.
""DeepL: AI translator and writing assistant""

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/deepl-translate/

When I disable it, the problem disappears. When I enable it, the problem appears again.

Of course. I'm not sure this is the real cause of the issue. After I discovered the culprit, Immediately updated the software But the problem hasn't fixed.

I've been using this extension for about one year, and I haven't had any problems since the last update of the Firefox browser.

The symptoms are the following:

- If I select only one word, everything is okay.
- If I select more words, a phrase, or a paragraph, and try to copy them in the clipboard, the page rolls up to the top.
- This problem manifests on all the pages in Internet

If I disable this extension, the problem is fixed. Everything is okay.

It doesn't necessarily mean the browser is the culprit or the extension is the culprit. However, it is strange to see that the problems appeared immediately after the last update of the browser.

If you need extra detailes, or need me to do more experiments and investigation, please don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards,
Cristian

@CristianC : if you have an issue with an extension, you need to contact the people who make that extension to fix their bug.

The page for that extension has a link titled "Support Email" which links to:
[email protected]

Send an e-mail there and let them know about the issue, and provide examples of which websites you have the issue on.

I appreciate what you say about "it's only happened around a recent-update to Firefox", but that could just be coincidence.  On the page for their extension, it says "Last updated: 6 October 2026", so their recent update to their extension could also be the issue.
