Vertical tabs on opposite side of sidebar

The vertical tabs are useful, but the layout is too dense when the sidebar is already open. Having the option to put the tabs on the opposite side of the sidebar would solve this elegantly, and significantly reduce cognitive load.

The user experience would be even better if it was possible to invert the tab order; the most recently created tabs would then be displayed at the top, with the `new tab` button at the very top of the list.
