Update Give user progress & feedback.
FYI, I have Automatic Updates turned off.

I have only used Firefox for a short time, 2,3,4 updates. The actual update results have not caused me any problems yet.
However the Update process needs work.
Firefox told me there was an Update available, so I told it "OKAY" or "Apply"... whatever. But then nothing happened.
I believed that Firefox needed to be closed and reopened for it to apply an update, so I closed and reopened Firefox.
Firefox flashed on the screen, and then disappeared. There may have been a very quick flash of "Downloading", but that instantly disappeared.
20-40 seconds later Firefox opened up. THIS is your process???
PLEASE give me some Information, Progress & Feedback during the process.

When I click "OKAY" tell me that Firefox WILL or Will NOT retain my tabs information. If I have multiple Firefox Windows open. Ditto.
Maybe even do what MS Outlook does when it updates. It starts another program. If something is open that it needs closed, it warns me, and waits for me to click "Continue".
It shows an update progress bar, then it says "Update Completed".
Firefox would probably reopen the Firefox window or windows and tab(s), so I am BACK to where I was before the update, then say "Update Completed".
