Thunderbird currently displays a purple notice/UI when the message has a calendar event attached.

There are some events that I expect to received and wish to automatically process. For example, deliveries, appointments, meeting invites from work domains, etc.

I believe some platforms like Outlook/Gmail already have logic for automagically processing events, like putting Amazon deliveries in the calendar.

Could we please be able to configure this in message filters where I could do something like:

Then:

  • Mark as read
  • Add the event to a specific calendar
  • Archive the message

The ability to filter emails containing event information (invitations, updates, deletions) is a fundamental option in working environments and would undoubtedly facilitate the spread of Thunderbird beyond mere personal use.

I also strongly support the request to add this capability, particularly considering that this operation cannot currently be easily implemented with the standard filters already available.

Best regards,
Riccardo
