Thunderbird: Delete Icon on Menu Bar

If I start reviewing unread emails in a folder starting in the middle of the list, I can delete the first message and others till I get to the end of those bottom emails in the folder. However, on that last email, the Delete Icon goes gray on the Menu Bar and I need to delete from within the email. Just a little thing, but a glitch. It may not matter, I only know it does this when displaying Unread emails. I haven't check a show all list.
