Tab groups and sync extensions has already been suggested but yet to be implemented.

With Firefox it is possible to send (copies of) Tabs to other device as well as open up (a new copy) of tabs from other devices with the Synced Tabs feature. Using these are tedious and gets arduous. Plus now you have the same website(S) open on different devices and will show up in the "Synced Tabs" as separate tabs making the Sync Tabs list bulky and inefficiently redundant.

I work in one window, multiple tabs, (its easy to loose tabs when working in multiple windows).

I want when I close a tab on one device, it closes on all my devices. Open, change URL, etc. While this may not be good for classic browsing on multiple devices, using separate spaces/groups that sync together turns multiple devices into a single seamless continuity.

tab groups are organized by user preference and not device and by Syncing tab groups it will feel like working on a single device instead of multiple devices. Closing a tab in a group will mean that the tab is closed on all devices, etc. Separate devices can have different active groups.

Extensions exist that can group tabs, backup, and restore, but they cannot be synced live which is something I believe Firefox can and should implement themselves if they are not willing to sync all extension settings/data.

This sole feature might have be swapping back to chromium browsers. If they can do it, why can't firefox?

I am primarily interested in simply having tab groups sync. The original post's request for having tabs closed on one device also close on others is a great idea, but I can also see how implementing that feature poses a number of challenges for guaranteed consistent behavior. Perhaps we could start with having tab groups sync to the "Tabs from other devices" view where they can be opened as a group with a click as a separate first offering, then explore the true group mirroring behavior after the basic sync capability has been solidified?

Yeah, I think most of us agree with you @dibsPKM , since we had other posts merged into this one as @Jon said a couple months ago on his comment (Note: similar ideas have been merged into this thread)

I'm just frustrated to see that we have no reply at all from any Mozilla dev regarding this. It has been 3 years and 354 up votes for this.

Tab groups + Container Tabs + Vertical Tabs + Split View has made using Firefox a much more ergonomic experience, thanks devs!

It'd be great if these groups could be synced across devices, and saved/bookmarked.

Please don't make me go back to Chrome. Sync the tab groups across devices. Please

I just started migrating away from Microsoft Edge and found that while I can save and close tab groups, they don't get synced across my devices.  I have dozens of Workspaces in Edge that I use daily, but normally keep closed.  If a tab group is closed on Firefox, then I can't open it from another device.  I have to leave all the groups open on all devices, and even then, I can only individual tabs, not a group, and the individual tabs are not in a group on secondary machines (unless I recreate the groups, which defeats the purpose).

Jumping in here with a quick update...

With tab groups being worked on for Firefox on Android (learn more here) the team has also started initial stages of adding sync, though the majority of that work will fall into next quarter.

Please keep the feedback coming and stay tuned for updates ๐Ÿ™Œ

That sounds awesome, just wanted to remind that the tab groups are very inconsistent right now. I often make one, don't use it for a week, and then when I go back and try to find it, It's not there anymore. So I can't trust it to store sites for projects I work on and off.

That's good to hear, but I do want to remind that the tab groups are still very inconsistent. I often make one, don't use it for a week or more, and then when I go back to find it, It's not there. So I can't trust it to just store websites I need for a certain project I work on and off.

Great news @Jon , thanks for the update!

And thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread! Soon I'll be able to ditch Arc and go back to Firefox. ๐Ÿฅณ
