Sometimes it is not so easy to identify spam in the inbox. The subject and the sender look OK and only when I click on the mail to open it, I can see the email adress to identify spam.

It would be helpfull to see the full sender address when mouse over the sender in the inbox. Even better, when a spam button would be directly included with the mouse over bubble with the full email.

in MSN (Outlook) website email when my mouse touch sender before click it and it shows highlight with email address that help me to see verifty it before I click to open email. Its more safe than open any stranger's email box. Not all email providers have that kind of features.

I've been a long time user of Thunderbird and not being able to see the senders email address before opening an email is the one thing I don't like about Thunderbird (for easier spam and phishing detection)

So I really hope this can be added sooner rather than later 🙂

I have no real preference on how this is achieved:

  • Extra column
  • Via a setting
  • On mouse over (hover)

But it would be good if this is added for both the Table and Card view

Thank you very much!

I also really need this, same reason as Danylo stated in new-column-for-e-mail-address-of-sender
Please.

For those that may be interested, it is already possible to mouse over recipient to see email address but there are more improvements coming up...

Thunderbird may by default soon show Full Name <email> except for known addresses registered in address books.

Agreed, and the ability to COPY that address to paste buffer, like gmail does, helps in creating filters...

Being able to see the sender's address is critical for security. I regularly receive mail that I do not recognize and need to be able to see where it originated from.

Why is this seemly simple improvement taking so long? Is there an ETA?

I can also confirmed the feature is present in TB 128.0b6 (64-bit) and enabled by default showing display name <email address>. But be aware that this feature only applies to sender not present in addressbook. For your addressbook contact only the display name appears, you should still be able to mouse over the contact to see the email address behind it.

I created a new bug report about the mouse-over issue for Sender with hidden email address by default: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1907039

Let see if it will be picked up by the dev team as they may be enclined to look into it when following up on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=243258 recently fixed.

Missing column of mail address from sender in the mail overview to recognize spam

In the mail overviews I can select the column "prticipant", but in most cases it is not the real name of the sender

e. g. ADAC Sicherheitsteam <account@notice.aliexpress.com>

Today I see "ADAC Sicherheitsteam" but I want to see "account@notice.aliexpress.com"

Please add the mail address of the sender to list of choosing columns
