i have switched from chrome since past 1 month and firefox is just better. the only thing i did not find easy is the option for having multiple profiles to be used at ease, could be better if there was one to easily access seperate profiles for work and home

I agree, the way Microsoft Edge implemented it is amazing. If Firefox can copy the same idea, I will definitely be using Firefox on all my devices.

Definiately this, particularly for MacOS.

I have set up shortcuts on my windows machine to allow different profiles - one for work and another for personal.  And I just click the link depending on what profile I wish to use.

There is no easy way to do this on MacOS without a silly amount of hacks or third party add ons.

A simpler way to do this would be much better.

EDIT: After some search and tests (on Windows, because I usually use Linux system), I found some ways.

To start with you can select Firefox to ask you at start-up witch profile to use. In Terminal (for Linux) or Comand Promt (for Windows) type

firefox -P

and press enter. You will get Firefox-Profile window open. There you can un-select "Use the selected profile without asking at startup" and Exit the window. Next time you open Firefox, the Firefox-Profile window will open and you select the profile and press on "Start Firefox" button.

To make shortcut to open selected profile:

For Linux systems (Linux-Mint and probable Ubuntu), you can make a script file.Open your default text-editor and type in

#!/bin/sh
firefox -P "MyFirefoxProfile" & exit

(where MyFirefoxProfile is the name of the profile), and save the file where you want it (myFirefoxProfile.sh or something). Right click on the file and select Properties and in the Permission tab select Allow executing file as a program and then press on Close. You can now double-click on the file and it will open the Firefox browser with the selected profile"

For windows you can make bat file. Open text editor (Notepad or similar, but not Word or similar) and type in

firefox.exe -P "myFirefoxProfile"

(where myFirefoxProfile is the name of the profile), and save the file where you want as a .bat file (myFirefoxProfile.bat or something). Then you can double-click on the file and it will open the selected profile.

Hope this helps someone

Seconding this as well. It's the only feature holding me back from uninstalling Chrome. Profiles are a must for separating my work/personal bookmarks and stuff and essential for my workflow. It would also be nice for links to open in the most recent profile instead of the default profile (also like chrome/edge) Please please please add the same level of profile features as chrome and I promise I will donate at least 20 bucks to mozilla.

100000X to this
I have recently moved to Firefox from Chrome after using it back in 2015. I am very happy with my transition I moved because Chrome was a big memory hogger and my Mac started throttling after every 10 minutes or so. The only thing that is making me a bit hesitant to stick to Firefox is the ability to have different profiles which work flawlessly on Chrome. I would actually donate to Mozilla if they can implement this feature ASAP.

Quick fix

remove the Firefox snap package and install it as a .deb package; follow this tutorial:
https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2022/04/how-to-install-firefox-deb-apt-ubuntu-22-04

Note: this method will create new profile folders, so you'll have to reconfigure Firefox from scratch

I've been using this solution for several months, and Profile Switcher never gave me any problems.

Dirty fix: remove the Firefox snap package and install it as a .deb package; follow this tutorial: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2022/04/how-to-install-firefox-deb-apt-ubuntu-22-04

Note: this method will create new profile folders, and you'll have to reconfigure Firefox from scratch (or sync it again).

I've been using this solution since September 2022, and Profile Switch works flawlessly.

Please add with Firefox 113 a shortcut for create, customize and delete profiles in Firefox, like Chrome or Edge. The people Wii like this.

There might be an "Idea" you can vote for over on the Ideas side of this site: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/idb-p/ideas

If not, you can post a new one.

Anyway, nothing major is likely to change in Firefox 113. For at least the next few months, you'll still need to use the about:profiles page (see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles).

I am also leaving chrome for FF and want this same behavior. I found a plugin that lets you manage profiles and have a button for switching and it works ok, but is not as seamless as Chrome.

BUT there is also one thing that chrome does, that FF doesn't. If my 2nd profile has focus, and then from outside the browser, I click on a URL in a message / doc / etc. It still opens that link in the Profile #1, not in my 2nd profile which had the most recent focus. If I'm working in the 2nd profile, then anything I do outside of the browser should open in that profile.
