Made to switch to Firefox on iOS after the DMA allowed me to switch the default. Couldn't be more happier.

I like the option to have inactive tabs automatically close, but I would appreciate the option to set the number of days.

14 days is quite a long time, resulting in quite an overload of tabs.

Making moves

I actually have the opposite request and hence would like an option to decide for myself how many days I would like for Firefox to remember tabs.

I'm on Android and have set it for one week, since a month was too long, but one week is also to short. Would like to be able to set it for my self and figure out what time-frame works best for me.

I'd like to set it to be less than one day. I'd like to close tabs after 6 hours.

Hey! Thank you for sharing your feedback! Tab management is something we are actively thinking about.

I would  love to understand a bit more about your use case, for example, is there a particular type of tabs that you want to close, and what kind of timeframe feels โ€œinactiveโ€ in your workflow? Are you thinking of this as a way to better organize things or is it related with performance/memory?

Thanks!

@andyfTo answer your question, I'd like to keep my tabs open for a few hours because it is possible for users to close Firefox unintentionally, either by the users themselves, the OS automatically closed it, or the app crashed. That means the users are not finished using Firefox and would want to continue using their tabs.

On the other hand, closing tabs after 1 day is too long for me. If I'm done using Firefox, I'd just close the app instead of closing all of the 20 open tabs. It's easier. What I don't like is opening Firefox in the morning and seeing my tabs from last night, or opening Firefox in the evening and seeing the tabs I opened in the morning. When I intentionally close Firefox, that means I'm done with all of the open tabs.

Given that it is hard for Firefox to determine if Firefox was closed intentionally or not, a good compromise is to keep tabs open for 6 hours. If the user didn't open Firefox within 6 hours, it means the user intentionally closed Firefox in the last session and doesn't want the open tabs.
