Hi, I would like to suggest an improvement to the home page user experience regarding Shortcuts (Top Sites) on both Firefox Mobile and Desktop.

Currently, Shortcuts combine user-pinned bookmarks with recently visited pages from history. This creates friction, as users constantly have to manually remove random items from their history to keep a clean layout.

To solve this, I propose adding a dedicated toggle in the settings to disable automatically inserting history items into Shortcuts. This would reserve the shortcut space exclusively for bookmarks and sites manually pinned by the user, ensuring a consistent experience across mobile and desktop.

Bookmarks represent what users choose to save with care, while history is a temporary flow of visited pages. Overlapping them forces unnecessary manual cleanup, whereas making them independent gives users full control over their home page.

Thank you for your continued work on Firefox!

Tiziano.
