The "Translate Page" feature is helpful when filling out forms on foreign language websites.

However, when you click on "Show Original," the page reloads, which creates a major usability issue.
The page reload erases all the form data, making the experience frustrating.

Instead of this behavior, it would be much smoother and more user-friendly if switching languages only changed the text, without refreshing the entire page. This would greatly improve the user experience and ease of use.

Go back to the untranslated page without reloading

The Firefox translator module has to reload the page in order to show the original after translating. This does not happen in Edge, so it sure can be fixed in Firefox. Reloading takes time, and can sometimes become annoying. It would be great to click on the 'view original page' button - and to see the page come back instantly!

translate

When “View in original language” is pressed in the translation function, the page should not be reloaded.

This is so annoying, especially when filling out forms.

I found myself just motivated to sign-up to this community to share my exact same idea, and I found this already-posted idea.

This issue is becoming more essential and paramount in the era of chatting with AI models such as ChatGPT and Gemini where the user is not logged-in to the AI-Model, so his/her chat conversation won't be saved the chat sessions; and the entire conversation would be lost if the user uses the "Translation" in Firefox. The Google Chrome doesn't behave the same.

Strollin' around

I completely agree; the page shouldn't reload when switching back to the original text. For instance, if you want to compare the translation with the original, your reading position gets reset every time. On pages where the content might change upon loading—such as Reddit's "Best" feed—you lose track of the article you were reading whenever you switch back to the original.

Yes, I agree. And a feature like Google Translate, where you can view the original text by hovering the translated paragraph a few seconds would also be welcome. For now though, we can translate text by selecting it and choosing "Translate" from the context menu, that one works without a reload. Or maybe just open two instances of the same page and have only one of them translated by the tool.
