Just like how Windows provides a "lock the taskbar" option that prevents you from accidentally resizing the taskbar, Firefox should have a "lock the sidebar" option. I have the sidebar on the right, and it is quite frequent (once per 2-3 days) that I would accidentally drag the sidebar when I meant to drag on a website's scrollbar.
