I use Firefox at work, where we work on a random one of 6 different servers assigned when we log in every morning. These servers share user data so I am working in the same environment no matter which I use, but apparently they don't share installed programs. As a result, when Firefox updates it obviously also updates my user settings and profile. The next morning when I log on, the new server might not have updated Firefox yet so it is incompatible with my profile and refuses to launch unless I create a new blank profile. Would it be possible for profiles to be backwards compatible with one or two old versions of Firefox? This would allow me to launch the browser and then update it without going through a complex process of creating and then deleting a blank profile just to update my browser several times every month.
