Status: New idea

With the last update, message threads got introduced. 

I can turn them off per folder, but I would like to turn the option off in its entirety. No message threads.

There is no option for that right now. Could you please add one? More users are struggling with this.

August 30th, 2024 and my Emails are all fouled up.  Threads are causing havoc, I am losing mails I want to keep and don't get messages because they are threaded to a previous mail.  May have to leave this app.

I can confirm that threading by default is a disaster for me as well. As an example I get invitations  by email with the same subject but new dates since years. New invitations disappear in the thread as this thread is very old and no longer displayed on the screen. Even worse, if I found the very old thread, the new message is not displayed on top but at the end of the thread, which iin my case is again not displayed on the screen, as I do have more messages in the thread than fit on the screen. Please review your decisions or give an option to globally change the behaviour. No advice here worked for me!

I do appreciate threads however it requires me to set up something that works. I would prefer to have latest email at the top not at the bottom. Bottom doesn't make sense.

Threads may be useful for some users but for many users they are a giant pain in the a.............

Either get rid of them, or allow the user to eliminate them entirely.

It is so bad, that I am considering changing my email platform from Thunderbird which I have been using for many years. Threads are driving me away.

2 years later and this still hasn't been resolved?

How difficult can it be to add a setting to disable threading on all folders?

Message threads are a big nuisance and it is disappointing that Mozilla Thunderbird introduced such a disruptive feature (?) without giving users the option to decline. It's also concerning that Mozilla Thunderbird developers are so unresponsive to user's complaints. There's got to be a way to turn it off globally!
