The only thing that's is keeping me from switching from Edge, to Firefox It's not being able to import my passwords in Edge to Firefox because there's no password import option in Firefox.

Hi @YassinOmer!

Quick question to help diagnose the problem: do you see Passwords as available for import when you launch Import Wizard (File menu -> Import from Another Browser)? Or do you see it, but nothing happens on import?

Knowing this would help me troubleshoot with you.

In the meantime, here's a quick workaround to get your passwords from Edge to Firefox:

1. Export your passwords from Edge to a CSV file (here's how).

2. Type about:config in your Firefox URL bar, accept the warning and search for signon.management.page.fileImport.enabled preference. Change it to "true" by clicking the toggle button on the right.

3. Type about:logins in your Firefox URL bar. Click the three dots icon, and choose Import from a file option. Upload the CSV file you exported from Edge, and you should see all your logins in Firefox now.

I tried the Import Wizard it says...

No programs that contain bookmarks, history, or password data could be found

I have Edge installed it contains bookmarks, history, and password data. I am using Firefox in ZorinOS 16.2 which is based on Ubuntu 20.04.

Wooo, I'm glad it worked! Congrats on your new Firefox start 🙂

Ok, so the reason why this was happening is that you got Firefox installed as a snap package.

Snap "confines" applications so they don't know anything about the other applications and their directories (as it's more secure than not doing it). The side effect is that import doesn't work because we don't know if you have any other browser installed.

We're going to fix this situation this year and let users who have these installations of Firefox choose the browsers they want to migrate from manually👍

I recently copied my passwords to a file and then delete them from a computer I was sending off for repairs.  Unfortunately, that action also deleted passwords from all of my other computers using Firefox.  I wanted to reinstall them to the other computers but there is no way to import passwords from a file, even a file created when I exported them to a file.  Can this deficiency  be corrected?

Thank you.  Ken Yeager
