Title: Optional security reminder whenever Firefox detects a login page
I would like Firefox for Android to offer an optional security feature that displays a reminder whenever a website requests login credentials.
Proposed behavior:
When Firefox detects a login form, display a message:
"Login page detected. If you arrived here through an email or message link, consider opening the website directly by typing its address into Firefox instead."
Provide two options:
- Continue to login
- Leave page
Important requirements:
- Trigger on legitimate and suspicious login pages alike.
- Do not rely on phishing databases or website reputation.
- Work with links opened from email applications such as Yahoo Mail and Gmail.
- Allow users to enable or disable this feature in Firefox's security settings.
- Do not collect or store login credentials.
Reason for requesting:
Phishing protection typically warns only about websites already identified as dangerous. A reminder on all login pages would encourage users to verify how they reached a website before entering credentials, including when a phishing website has not yet been identified.
This would be particularly useful for people who manually enter their passwords rather than using password managers.
