Status: New idea

hello. I would like to make a feature request. I am using Firefox mobile for Android. And I have noticed that the phisical keyboard support is very low compared with chrome. For example. Even if I press the search key. The search box does not come up. And when I am presented with options from search results, I can't use the arrow keys to pick the option I want. And also there is no way to use the Firefox menu using the keyboard.

II would like to need to touch the screen as little as possible. And this is something chrome still does better than Firefox.

Thanks in advanced,

Usmar Padow(amigojapan)

I agree, not having such essential shortcuts like Ctrl+L, Ctrl+F, Ctrl+T, Alt+Left, Alt+Right, Ctrl+W is truly debilitating.

This is very important for multiple reasons:
1. Tablets are getting popular, both for personal and work-related use. Keyboard hot keys are a boon for productivity!
2. Disabled users sometimes rely on customized hot keys.
I'd be even glad to donate funds specifically to support the development of this feature.

I was really shocked when I downloaded Firefox for Android and found that it barely worked with my keyboard. None of the keyboard commands worked. I would have thought this would be implemented in really early stages of Firefox mobile support. This is something I and many others need, and will drive us away from Firefox for Android with its absence. Apparently this has been an issue for years. How can we get keyboard support for Android equal to that of the desktop version?

Lack of keyboard support for Firefox for Android renders it almost unusable to me. I was so unpleasantly surprised to find that standard keyboard commands didn't work. I won't be able to use Firefox on mobile much until this is implemented. I'm fairly new to using the web on mobile but it seems like full keyboard support has never really been a thing with Firefox on this platform? Why would that be?

Totally agree with the comments so far. Just got a samsung tablet for work (with a keyboard and touchpad), it's a desktop mode with custom interface (Dex). It works with a ton of shortcuts that are usually from windows. I downloaded firefox, as it's my favorite browser, and it does support great extensions/addons. Unfortunately, it's interface doesn't quite work well with a mouse/keyboard setup.

Using firefox on my samsung tablet without keyboard shortcuts is driving me nuts! +1

Support for keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl+T, Ctrl+W, Ctrl+L/Alt+D, Ctrl+F, etc. is a huge QoL consideration when using tablets with physical keyboard attachments, as more and more people are doing.

I found these ideas related to this:

Could we maybe get some of these merged for better visibility?
