Native Tab Grouping / More Customizable Tab bar

I'm personally a heavy tab user but have always wondered why there is almost no support for tab grouping or customization in the native tab bar in Firefox.

I think making it able to group like Google Chrome does for example or at least giving more access for extensions and add-ons would significantly improve the UI in that regard.

Can we please have an update on the status of this feature request, @Jon ?

How does the "exploring more" phase work? It's obviously a very desired feature so what exactly is the holdup?

Is the leadership not convinced this is a good feature to have? Are there doubts this can be properly implemented in Firefox? Is other stuff more important right now? When can we expect a decision?

Please help us understand what is going on so we can manage our expectations. The lack of communication is frustrating.

This is literally the single feature that keeps me away from firefox. every other browser is so much easier to organize tab clutter and the extensions available to firefox don't do a good job either

This is a very important feature already having good implementations in other browsers as a reference.

Just wanted to add one more voice to the pile! This is an amazing feature that used to exist on Firefox and was removed. I understand that it might seem weird to have too much tabs to the point where you need to group them, but depending on the line of work it is extremely useful. It also helps by reducing the clutter of the tabs bar in these situations. It would also help ADHD.

This really needs to be added soon. I want to use Firefox so much, and this is making it so hard to do so.

It is going to take an add-on developer like  QuickSaver (TagGroupsMenu) or Piro (with TreeStyleTabs), or a forked version of Firefox like WaterFox to implement the functionality we are trying to recover for tab-groups-management. No browser has it. TabContainer and SimpleTabGroups are futile attempts to implement the solution but lack understanding the scope of the issue. And what is so frustrating is that the solution logic already exists... It is little more than File Management that exist in every OS and Email Client.   I'll be happy to discuss details if someone want to undertake the development because without that functionality my productivity is severely impeded as are others in this thread. And with the onslaught of cloud apps, the problem worsens.

I love this idea, tab group is great way to organize tabs, especially if you working and open a bunch then need to work on something else but want to organize groups by work, project and to easily switch between groups.

Please! I use this kind of feature so heavily in Chrome, but would love to be able to separate from Chrome. I think this is a must for modern day web browsers.
