Been using firefox for almost 20 years. With their seeming lack of interest on mobile (scroll through this active post and see all the "this is the only feature mobile firefox lacks for me to switch" over years), and the direction the desktop changes are going I may be looking for another browser in the not too distant future. Been a great run so far Mozilla, and this feature alone would keep me as a user for years longer.
Firefox Mobile really needs tab groups. Pretty much every other browser has this. Please tell us the team is working on it. This is really a basic feature for browsers.
Came to say I am using only FF on desktop since 2007/2008, but I would also appreciate if the Android version had tab groups. A very dearly missed feature indeed.
Please consider this, I find it to be a feature that is sorely missing. Collections on FF Android is nice but it's not the same - different uses.
For me, tab groups tend to represent a "session" of browsing. I open up the browser, go to a website, maybe follow a few links. I would open any related links in the same tab group. If I want to open a new tab for something unrelated, I will open a full new tab.
This is a very useful organizational function for me. For instance if I was researching something and need to return to it later, that tab group will be there. (Collections for me seem too intentional / less ephemeral than this use case). With tab groups I don't need to explicitly save every tab I might want to return to as a collection, they'll just be there. And when I am done with that "session" I can easily close the whole tab group.
