Make multiple email notifications smarter

When I bring my Windows PC out of sleep, Thunderbird mindlessly slogs through all new emails one by one, even if they were deleted or opened using another device. For example, I have 10 new emails not in the local Thunderbird client - I have to sit though 10 slow notification popups one at a time, even if I have the client open or if the emails are deleted. It would be better to group them in one notification when there is a batch waiting to download, or implement some other more clever response.
