Improve Browser Migration: Add Seamless Cross-OS Cross-Browser Import of Credentials and Other Data

I am switching a family member's device from Windows to Linux. She uses Chrome on Windows, and Firefox on Linux.

Currently, in order to move credentials from Chrome to Firefox, we need to export the credentials as CSV, and re-import it into Firefox, which is both insecure and difficult for non-technical users. Also, there is no simple way to move any other data across the OS barrier. This is due to major security/architectural roadblocks, but end users often don't know and want simplicity. Users will likely think that the OS or browser is "broken".

This experience directly impacts Firefox's adoption rate among the growing demographic of new Linux users. Is there a roadmap for a more secure, streamlined, or perhaps "authorized" migration path that could handle these cross-OS/cross-browser transfers without forcing the user to handle plaintext credentials?
