In the past, i have installed multiple Extensions, not realizing that they’re closed‑Source.

In most of these Cases, i then switched another Add‑on which is open‑Source.

So that this doesn’t happen again, i would like open‑Source Add‑ons or closed‑Source Add‑ons — whichever are less common — to be highlighted with a Badge on addons.mozilla.org, so that i will not be tricked again, into downloading something closed‑Source because it has a similar Name as something open‑Source.

Thanks for the feedback! We do display the licence for the add-on on the listing page which will indicate if it is open source or not. Is this able to help you get the information you need to make a decision?

The license is visible on the add-on page but it would be better to be able to know at a glance if it was prominently displayed with a badge similar to recommended add-ons

The Information is currently not visible enough.

The License Field was not helpful because i did not find it on my own — i needed it pointed out to me (thank you, @alanmbyrne).

Just like @smda suggests, i would like open‑Source Add‑ons highlighted with a Badge that reads "Open‑source". The exact License is not that important in most Cases, because all open‑Soure Licenses curb the same biggest Issues inherent to closed‑Source Software.

I made up my Mind that highlighting open‑Source is better than highlighting closed‑Source, because in most Cases positive Messaging of open‑Source is much better than negative Messaging of closed‑Source, to promote open‑Source.

The "Open‑source" Badge would also suggests to People who don’t know what open‑Source is yet, that open‑Source Add‑ons tend to be better than closed‑Source Add‑ons.
