I'd like to see an area for global message filters. I have quite a few email addresses and I have to manage the message filter for each of them. I see the same SPAM messages coming for each account but on different days, so I have to add a filter for each of them. It would be nice to put filters in a single filter and then a link to that filter in each of the individual account filters. i.e., Search this account's message folder and if it has a link to the global filter, check that one too.

It IS nice that I can send the SPAM messages to one account's folder, regardless of which account it came in on so I can review and delete all of them at once.

I too have the same wish. When global search e.g. reveals that an SPAMMER has addressed several mail accounts I manage with thunderbird, I would like to add this SPAMMER´s mail data to a permanent global mail filter rules file, so that this SPAMMER gets filtered into a special mail folder, e.g.  Global-SPAM, and when retrieving my mails or when applying my filters globally to all managed mail addresses, all found SPAMMER data gets those mails moved to that SPAM folder, making it easier to train internal junk filters with that SPAMMER´s data and to have that junk removed more quickly than having to manually make new filter rules for every email address I manage. When I then see that after checking that special mail filter folder that the filter works perfectly, I would like to move that junk directly to a trash folder instead, so I just have to edit the global mail filter rules for that SPAMMER from SPAM folder to Trash folder as the new destination folder.

I would like to also add the idea of another user that by applying special keywords it would be possible to specify what exactly I am looking for globally, e.g. Global search for "From:[email protected]" would globally only search for that special keyword rather than all possible data.

Generally, the available keywords and special keywords (chooseable) available in the regular filter usage (per mail account) should just be applyable to all mail addresses at once globally, if this definition makes it more clear to a developer, what the global search / global mail filter rule should do.

Or in this case, the global mail filter should not be a one-shot filter, but like all other mailfilter rules be kept in a global mail filter rules database file, just like the regular by email address available local mail filter rules.

At the moment, in my little spare time, I am working on an external program to manage mail data and to work around the missing feature in thunderbird, but also other filter options.

Let us see, what comes first, a global filter rule database file for thunderbird which allows global filtering with such a global database rule file by a professional developer of thunderbird or my external workaround program developed in my little spare time 🙂
