The minor idea is that the file Save used to remain in the same directory, but now it just forgets. This is a problem because there is a task I want to do frequently that passes through Firefox, and the file saving step is now a risky step. Basically I could easily lose my work each time because I might forget to check the target folder.

The big idea is that changes should be justified. I think that means enough people WANT the change that they are willing to donate for the change to happen. And the budget for each change should include sufficient regression testing to make sure problems like this one don't happen.

Not the only Firefox problem that's bugging me, and probably not nearly as serious as a long-term memory leak in Ubuntu, but I've basically given up hoping for Firefox to get better. Instead they will continue implementing changes I do not want and I doubt they are even wondering why I (and lots of other people) do not want to donate to support Firefox. The main reason I'm still using Firefox is that the other browsers are from companies that I also dislike, but at least they have financial models that seem to work pretty well.

Another meta-comment is that I have apparently returned to an older identity. Or maybe I'm on a different website. Or maybe it's just too confusing to try to help Firefox get better. Or at least less annoying.
