Every year Mozilla conducts its Privacy Not Included  product review - evaluating products on their level of Privacy, Security, and use of AI. For the 2023 edition, I'd love to see it include information about a product's energy usage and carbon footprint (including CO2 resulting from production / disposal).

I decided to prototype this by running the list of 2022 products through an API called Ditch Carbon.

I wrote more about this process here, but I'm attaching a mockup of what this could look like, as well as a screenshot of the data as a pie chart. You can view the final data in a spreadsheet here. If you'd like to see this feature in next year's Privacy Not Included, give this a thumb's up or add your own feedback / ideas / improvements and maybe we can make it happen.

Here's a mockup with repairability scores, which can be retrieved often from the Indice de Repairabilité (in France, it is law for mfrs to report repairability across several metrics). iFixit could be another source.

I created a dataset of electronics devices on Github here using the Indice
