Do not save Username if user does not request save password

I recently moved from windows 10 to windows 11. The fireFox in windows 10 does not save username if I tell fireFox do not save the password. However, FireFox does not behave the same in windows 11.

I would suggest firefox do not save username if user tell firefox do not save password for security reason. Firefox only saves username if user asks firefox to save password.

This sounds like it is either a Windows problem, or a Firefox bug. I guess it's better to wait some Mozilla dev to give their verdict, but this may be more Bugzilla's material than Connect's.

Firefox should work the same on Windows 10 or Windows 11 or Linux or Mac OS. Do you see username stored in Passwords or do you see autocomplete with username, but no icons in that autocomplete? If it's latter, then this is Form History, a generic capture and filling for any field.

You can control Form History in Settings > Privacy & Security > History > Use custom settings for history

I had this problem too. I disabled the save password option but Firefox do not stop saving the usernames. And I think there is a critical issue here, because it started showing me the usernames from other websites, because it's not relating the username to the domain.

I manage Word Press websites and on each login page of any website, Firefox was showing a list of usernames to pick. Those usernames were not related to that website and to me this is a security issue, because it's revealing the usernames from other Word Press websites. That autocomplete should suggest only the usernames related to that domain.

To stop this I had to disable that option "Remember search and form history" too.

I am having the same problem on some financial websites, but not all. Firefox saves username and password together or not at all. This didn't happen before about a month ago. I'm using the same computer and browser as before, but it's not behaving the same. It seems like a common preference to save username but not password. Is anyone looking at this?
