Making moves
Status: New idea

A quite annoying "feature" of the CTRL+TAB cycling of recent tabs is that the the mouse pointer will focus the tab preview that appears, and thus making the cycling with CTRL+TAB completely illogical.

Focusing a tab with the mouse pointer is FINE, but it should only happen when you actively move the mouse pointer. If the mouse pointer is just idly placed on the middle of the screen somewhere, it should not change the tab cycle focus.

Totally agree, for me this behavior was introduced recently and was not present in previous Firefox version.

Hello,

I agree. CTRL+TAB should ignore the mouse position, unless moved while CTRL is still pressed. If not, only the successive press on TAB should trigger the focus on a specific tab in the list.

Also agree with @capsuleman that this behaviour was correct (= no mouse pointer action by default) until a recent firefox update.

Yup I have this too. Coming from Zen browser on Mac, but I just tested and it appears on Firefox as well if you enable show tab previews. I don't think it's reproducible on Windows, but I'll have to check again.

It's particularly annoying for me because I seem to naturally keep my pointer in the middle of the screen, so it happens almost every time I try to cycle tabs.

Please fix it already! It’s a bug

I want to use CTRL+TAB to cycle through tabs in most recent order, it is one of the main reasons I have been using Firefox for the past 8 years over Chrome. Having my mouse cursor position selecting the tab to switch to instead COMPLETELY messes up tab cycling. Please fix this soon, thank you!
