Change the app icon background to white

The app icon for Android/iOS has a horrendous black background which looks terrible and visually clashes with every other icon. It makes me actively not want to use the app because it looks so terrible next to every other app on my home screen which all have a more consistent aesthetic. Please change the background to white, or add an option for it at least!

How to vote? I wholeheartedly support this idea and was even thinking of uninstalling the app because it looks so ugly and sticks out from other apps, and continuing with Brave browser instead.

Hey! I have an update for Firefox iOS regarding icons. Since our last update (Fx 136), we’ve rolled out a new app icon that automatically matches your system theme (available only for iOS 18).

Also, starting next week with Firefox iOS 137, you’ll also find a new option in Settings to choose your app icon with lots of cool background colors, including white!

I just installed 137.0... no such settings exists, iOS 18.3.2 iPad Air (2024).  Also the app update (in App Store) claims "New Settings Organization and Appearance menu" which is not evident here... same old settings, nothing labeled "Appearance".  Yes, I closed and reopened Firefox.  Is a hard reboot necessary?

Is the icon picker option specific to iOS 18.x? My 6th gen iPad Pro on os 17.7.2 updated Firefox to 137 yesterday, yet this option is not available in settings.

No. It is not specific to iOS 18, but it is currently on a phased rollout, so it will be available on your device very soon after you restart the app. Thanks!

@andyf how does phased rollout work? Will there be another app update, or does the app "phone home" to enable certain features?  Is it necessary to have Support options enabled in settings, like "daily ping", or "Studies"?

Hi @jhg6308. Yes, you need to have the "Studies" option enabled. If you'd prefer not to enable it, you can wait for the next release, where it will be fully available.
