Idea Suggestion: Add an option to bypass the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) links that Google/Bing use and go straight to the original publishers website on the mobile version of Firefox and Firefox Focus.

Reasoning: The Brave web browser already supports this, as does DuckDuckGo, and AMP links can be annoying/unnecessary and could be used for tracking, which can compromise user privacy. As AMP is exclusive on the mobile web, it would be unnecessary to add it on the desktop version.

I thought it did that already. AMP is a mistake because it changes the look and feel of websites without the developer's consent.

I agree, having the option to automatically get rid of amp links would IMO both make pages load quicker and improve privacy. Could be an extension you install in the mobile browser, or even better, a toggle directly in the settings. Thanks!

Commenting so this idea doesn't loose momentum. I think this this is a really important feature.

Agreed it would be an excellent feature to add to Firefox

Yes please! I think Firefox should implement more of these privacy-oriented features by default!

I suspect an extension could do this, but as that type of extension would need to monitor every navigation you make, I'd much prefer this being a core option in the browser.  +1!

You shouldn't need an extension to disable AMP, it should be a setting, as it's a privacy concern. Originally Firefox automatically bypassed AMP, but recently Google found a way to still force it.
