Making moves
Status: New idea

Please give the users you supposedly care about the option to switch back to the old UI.

A lot of us found the previous layout significantly more intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing. By comparison, the new design feels generic, cluttered, and devoid of the personality that made the old interface genuinely enjoyable to use. It comes across less like a thoughtful redesign.

You don’t have to force everyone into the same experience. Give people a choice.

Adding a Legacy UI option would be a simple way to show that you actually listen to your community instead of endlessly redesigning things and expecting users to just put up with it.

Better yet, in the future, add a dropdown menu under Appearance that lets users switch between different interface layouts or “skins.” This would make Firefox far more customizable and, more importantly, give users greater control over how they use it. User customization is an underused feature that few companies seem to take seriously anymore.

Let users choose. Bring back the old UI as an option and give people more control over their experience.

Making moves

In order to make Firefox normal again, you have to do backflips through so many hoops and it's ridiculous.  First you have to go into about:config and change nova to false, then you have to make it allow you to do stylesheets or whatever, then you have to go to about:support and open your profile folder, the you have to create a file and type a bunch of programmer stuff into it, then you have to restart Firefox... this is downright silly.  I refuse to believe that your developers are too stupid to realize that this is unreasonably convoluted and difficult and that nobody who isn't a computer programmer could ever figure this out without help.  It would make so much more sense to just have it be a setting that you can turn on and off in Settings.  There's literally no reason whatsoever to make such a simple thing that the vast majority of your users need to do so convoluted and difficult.  You sure made it easy to enable all these chages -- there's no reason whatsoever you couldn't have made it easy to disable the changes as well.  Expecting people to know how to navigate about:config and create CSS files is unreasonable.  Just put it in the Settings with the rest of the Settings.

I refuse to believe that your developers aren't smart enough to realize that nobody wants things to be convoluted and difficult.  I refuse to believe that your developers aren't smart enough to realize that users want your browser to be user friendly instead of convoluted and difficult to use.  I can only come to the conclusion that you hate your userbase and want the experience to be horrendous.

The poor interface changes are one reason Firefox's share of browser users has dropped.

I'm no long surprised by developers making "updates" that are done for the sake of updating and that  ruin their application. Keep in mind that a lot of us are older and don't need fancy-shmancy changes that are decorative and seemingly aimed at young people.    I'm disappointed that such smart developers can't/won't give us a lot more choices about the UI.  It used to be a workhorse and it's turning into a show pony.

I've already had to step out on Firefox because more and more sites won't work on Firefox.  Now it's time to leave completely.

Firefox's share of users has decreased over time due to poorly chosen updates.

I'm no long surprised when developers ruin their apps with updates for the sake of updating.  I'm disappointed when smart developers won't give us more choices about our UI experience.  Firefox used to be a solid workhorse.  It's become a show pony.

I've already stepped out on Firefox due to more and more sites not working Firefox.  Time to find a new browser for good.
