Bring back PWA (progressive web apps)

Progressive Web apps are an important feature of a browser that Firefox is the only one missing.
For some, it can be the reason to switch to another browser.
In other cases like for the Steamdeck, it's what imposed the choice to only include Chrome in the SteamOS interface.
Other problem even for avid Firefox users, since I wanted Social apps on my pc I had to get them on the Microsoft Store which is an Edge PWA that opens every link in an Edge window, making me use this... other browser.

Just because Firefox doesn't have PWA support I'm forced to use other Browser along with Firefox on my PC. Please bring back PWA support. Don't be like Apple.

I personally do not use PWAs, but not incorporating this what is now considered a standard web browser feature that Chromium browsers have does not help with advertising Firefox as a capable replacement. Core stuff should come before experimenting with how AI could potentially improve web browsing.

The main reason I'm having to use Chromium based Browsers at all is PWA support. So I would be quite happy with this feature

Recently, there was some fuzz about Firefox bringing in the future feature to manage group tabs and that it was by the big demand from the community? What is the success story of group tabs feature success? Were people demanding it louder or had longer threads about wanting to have group tabs?

I think PWAs are quite in line with the whole openness of the web and software that mozilla tries to promote. Please bring this feature back to the desktop. It works rather fine on android.

Even though it works okay on Android, there's still some issues that need to be addressed there as well. They probably seem like small details, but details matter and these things break the experience in a way that makes them not feel like an app (which is he exact point of a PWA). I've been testing it out recently and the 3 biggest friction points I run into are:

1. The app icon has a small Firefox icon in the bottom right corner, which is visually distracting and makes it feel less "native".

2. They can't be put in the app drawer. The only spot allowed is on a home screen. The best PWA support (like Chrome has) allows you to put a PWA in the drawer or wherever you want.

3. Has a bar on either top/bottom that looks like what you get with a webview. It has some browser navigation and you can "Open in Firefox" if you want. Again, Chrome based browsers don't have this issue and I'm using Brave on my phone just to improve the PWA experience. 🤦‍♂️

Again, I know these things seem small, but the details matter.

Full PWA support

I use Firefox for front-end development and unfortunately Firefox doesn't fully support PWA on its desktop version. For example you can't install the web application on your home screen the way you can in chrome browser. I think it's a good idea and it's the time for Firefox to support features that developers frequently use if it wants to become the main go to browser for developers. I say that because I have seen the Firefox developer edition which demonstrates Firefox team's interest in becoming as such.
Additionally I think it's good to add full support for Shared workers too. Currently it's not well supported compared to chrome.

Since mobile Linux support is currently being worked on, it would be great to make it work about the same way as on Android (full screen, silent notification, clicking on an external link opens up the whole UI), without using dirty hacks such as just opening the browser window or using kiosk mode.

Upvoted. Please make this happen. The PWA extension is a poor, cumbersome, and janky substitute for native/in-built PWA support.

I use a lot PWAs, i have a second web browser due to the use of PWAs and the lack of them in Firefox 😞
