Status: New idea

Hello,

I use the option to sync my bookmarks to my Mozilla account and I use the same bookmarks on the Desktop and Android version of Firefox.

What bothers me that when I want to open a bookmark on the Android version of Firefox I have to go through multiple folders to access my Desktop bookmarks (tap "Bookmarks" -> Desktop bookmarks -> Bookmarks Toolbar -> bookmark I'm looking for) every single time I want to open a bookmark.

I think it would be great for Firefox to "remember/save" the folder you opened the last bookmark from and the next time you tap "Bookmarks" in the menu, the folder you last were in opens. Of course, when you close Firefox and you open it again and tap "Bookmarks" you would be brought back to the menu it usually opens when you do that. What I want to say is that Firefox "remembers/saves" the folder you last opened a bookmark per session and resets upon closing the app.

I know that this is a minor and petty feature, but I would love for it to be implemented in some kind of way.

i really don't know how this simple design oversight still hasn't been fixed when ios safari's had it for so many years. in fact, i think safari might somehow be the only mobile browser i've ever used that does this

This may seem like a superficial feature, but it's what's actively stopping me from switching to Firefox fully.

I have A LOT of bookmarks, all painstakingly organized in their relevant subfolders. It's fine on desktop, but it's HELL to navigate through on mobile, that's sometimes 5 folders deep I have to go through every single time I want to navigate to a different bookmark in the same folder!

Now even though Firefox for Android remembers the folder that you last saved a bookmark and it does not save it to that folder unless you go in and say edit right after it's bookmarked it always defaults to the main mobile bookmarks folder unless you edit it's save location.

Please add bookmark sorting feature to Android mobile. And include saving bookmarks to last saved in folder unless turned off in settings.

As a previous user said, this is stopping me from moving to Firefox.

I have loads of bookmarks spread across many folders, and not being able to quickly navigate between them makes Firefox not viable as a mobile browser, which is a shame because I want to use it as my main browser.

Every other browser I've ever used on both iOS (including Firefox on iOS) and Android has the ability to retain the open bookmark folder per session and it's weird that Firefox on Android is the only one that doesn't, drives me nuts as it's a simple feature that is stopping me completely from using the app.

Having this feature would be much appreciated.

I'd love it if this feature were fully added as well (even though it's been years since requested/last comment on the post).  I use Firefox on my iPhone, and this is the only problem I have with it - otherwise, it's the ideal browser.  Sometimes it will remember the folder correctly - if I open my bookmarks, navigate to a specific folder, open a bookmark, wait a few minutes, and try to open another bookmark in the same folder, then when I open the bookmarks menu the second time it opens to the last location/folder (correctly).  However, if its more than a few minutes between the two times I try to access the bookmarks, the second time I try to open the menu it defaults back to the top level of bookmarks and I have to navigate back down to the right sub-folder, even if I just wanted to access the next bookmark in the same sub-folder.

I mentioned this -again- in my Play Store review update yesterday and got a reply from Mozilla to make a feature suggestion on this site... like this has never been asked before.

So instead of opening another feature idea with the same content and only 2 upvotes, I'll just chime in here and upvote this.

If someone from Mozilla is reading this: PLEASE add this really simple feature to your Android browser! For people like me who browse by bookmarks exclusively, it makes all the difference to the browser being great or completely unusable.

This is what I have to go through with every single site I want to visit:

  1. Open the 3-dot menu
  2. Select bookmarks
  3. Select Desktop Bookmarks
  4. Select Bookmarks Menu
  5. Select the folder where the bookmark is in

Add more steps if the bookmark is in a nested folder.
It drives me MAD. It's a usability nightmare. And no matter how often I try Firefox on Android again, I cannot get past this.
