Always keep one new tab open

I'd really like if I didn't have to click on the "+" button 100 times a day. When I go to a webpage, Firefox could automatically open one new empty tab in the background so when I close the webpage that I'm visiting now, it won't automatically throw me one tab back and loads a site I don't even want to open now, but instead after closing the website it will just take me to a new tab. Thanks!

Please, keep this optional. When I close a tab I want to go back to the previous tab, not an empty new tab
