This is something which is incredibly frustrating, but I need to add an element:
It should be possible to list the Identities in alphabetical order of the Identity Label.
I have numerous identities, typically relating to the specific organisation I am interacting with, I need to be able to quickly and easily find the correct identity when composing a new email to the organisation (replying typically works okay with Thunderbird selecting the correct identity, although this doesn't translate across different email accounts, so there's an additional ask right there).
As I am using my name, which doesn't change... in the Your Name field of the identity, it does not help to quickly and easily find the relevant identity for creating a new email and simply making the list alphabetical by Your Name is not going to help unless the secondary sort is also on the Identity Label.
Follow-up, a temporary workaround pending a built-in feature...
Is there a way of accessing the Identity data which could be exported to, say, a spreadsheet, be sorted into the desired sequence, and then brought back in to the Identity data file so that the Identities are then listed in the useful order?
Provided this would be relatively simple, for example, finding a text-readable file (backing it up, of course) and then editing the relevant entries, the desired sequence could be achieved, it could be a useful workaround for, hopefully most, users who use multiple identities (on the assumption that people only add a few Identities a year, rather than several a day).
I welcome being pointed to information which could help with this workaround. Either in reply to in this thread or by sending me a message. TIA. 🏆
