Status: New idea

Idea: Make it easier for the user to pick an alternate file picker other than GTK's on the GNU/Linux version of Firefox

Reasoning:  The GTK file picker lacks features that other file managers have, and it can be a pain to make another one to work on Firefox, to get the KDE one to work for example, you have to install xdg-desktop-portal-kde and then have to mess with the about:config settings just to get Dolphin to work with Firefox.

Making moves

As a KDE Plasma user, I'm really tired that after every install or reinstall of the OS on my computer, may family computers and my friends computers I have to always search for the Arch wiki page to find what packages I have to install, what environment variables or options in about:config I have to set so that Firefox uses the native KDE file manager / picker every time it interacts with files on the computer.

Can't this be done automatically by Firefox?

Is it that hard to detect that it's running on KDE Plasma and in that case to use the native KDE file manager / picker?

Thank you!
That bug reports seems to get nowhere, unfortunately.
