I sort my emails with the last one on top in all maps. But if I use the conversation view, I see the oldest one only and have to open the list to find the recent one. This is so annoying that I tend to use the conversation view at all. The order should be recent at top en the oldest below, or I should have an option to arrange this myself.
Thanks to anyone who can add this option for me

I am a new user (Ubuntu) and agree that the default date sort should be newest first. And I would greatly appreciate if the solutions offered in the Linux communities would have support match what's on the screen. That is one of the problems with finding the default solution in this use case.

There is an exciting, multi-year development effort in progress that first must deliver a new, more capable and less fragile message database.  That work is well under way, and once that is delivered then features such as this will be possible.  There is not yet a firm ETA.  Stay tuned.

+1 Great idea! Having the most recent message displayed at the top would make it easier to quickly access and follow conversations without having to scroll through older messages. Additionally, providing users with the flexibility to arrange conversation views according to their preference would greatly enhance the overall user experience.

Implementing this feature would offer users greater control over their inbox organization and improve efficiency when navigating through conversations. I believe adding this option would be a valuable enhancement to the messaging platform. Thank you for considering this suggestion!

Thanks , @wsmwk and Thunderbird Team,

Good to hear that it is in development now.  I didn't expect it to be so complicated. But I understand now, where the wrong order of mails came from.

all the best
