While the right click menu is indeed intended for administrating tabs, it feels unnatural and represents an extra step to use split view feature. I believe a separate button on toolbar for tab split view would be much more intuitive and faster.
I want a split tab button on the toolbar like Microsoft Edge
I would like to be able to split tabs not only by right-clicking or using shortcuts, but also by simply pressing a button...I would like you to consider this.
I was literally looking for an Add Split View toolbar button in Customization. I was surprised to learn it was not yet added, although the feature is already available for while now. In short, this toolbar button would really help.
Add a dedicated, clickable toolbar button for Split View
Hi Mozilla Team,
Now that Firefox supports a native Split View feature, it would be a massive usability improvement to add a dedicated "Split View" button directly to the main toolbar or tab bar.
Currently, users have to right-click a tab or use specific keyboard modifiers (like Alt + click) to split the view. A clickable toolbar button—similar to how other browsers or productivity tools handle window tiling—would make the feature much more discoverable, accessible, and intuitive, especially for touch screen users or those who prefer navigating primarily with a mouse.
Please consider adding this button as a default option or as a customizable toolbar item in an upcoming release!
