Status: New idea

Idea: add an option to block the annoying "Sign in with Google" prompts that some sites (for example: https://chromestatus.com) use on the mobile versions of Firefox and Firefox Focus.

Reasoning: blocking those popups are easier on desktop as extensions like DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials do it automatically and Ublock origin does it but you have to type "||accounts.google.com/gsi/iframe/select$subdocument" (without quotes) into the my filters section, this isn't possible on Firefox Focus as Focus doesn't have any extensions and the "Block other content trackers" feature doesn't block them either.

Google Sign-in Pop-up Protection

Are you tired of the Sign in Google pop-ups? This could be a fix Firefox could include to increase user privacy and remove an annoyance. If a user actually wants to sign in with Google, they can, just without the immediate pop-up. If you sign into your Google account from these other sites, Google can then track your behavior and collect your data on those sites. I think adding this is an easy privacy and annoyance win.

They irritate the hell out of me. I despise Google and all they stand for. I try not to have anything to do with it, but that's very difficult. These pop-ups are like digital bullying.

Since pretty much the beginning of the internet, pop-ups were deemed a significant annoyance, so much so it diminished and ruined the users’ browsing experience and significantly reduced efficiencies.  Hence the addition of pop-up blocking settings to all browsers long ago.  However, for some unknown reason Firefox gives Google a free pass and allows their “sign-in” pop-up seemingly on every website you visit where you then have to then manually close the pop-up on pretty much every single website you visit even though you have the pop-up blocker setting on (the only way to turn off the pop-up blocker is to specifically add a website to allow for pop-ups).  This is absolutely horrible and not acceptable.  If you have the pop-up setting on, no po-up should be allowed to get through no matter the source.  If you allow one pop-up to continue then you should be allowing hundreds of thousands of other pop-ups as well.  But you wouldn’t as you know this would be unacceptable, but again, somehow Firefox allows Google’s pop-up to go through.

Clearly the Google signin popup has been an issue for a long time (in internet terms anyway).  A new angle for Mozilla to consider.  BSA (formerly Boy Scouts of America) has opted to tell it's extensive community of users that Chrome is the browser of choice when using their applications.  I don't agree from an IT professional standpoint and strongly prefer to use Firefox.  I am largely an ABM person and don't want the MS browsers near my personal systems and I would prefer not to use Chrome.  Why?  I use a product named CCleaner from Piriform.  There is a free version.  It allows configuration of the system cleaning process to remove just about anything from your system once installed and configured.  MS browsers and Chrome leave megabytes of files most users aren't even aware of once you close the browser.  A lot of this is in temp files and cookies (performance issues anyone?).  Some is left by the MS browsers even if you do not consciously use the browsers!   Firefox, generally speaking, leaves less of a mess after it is run.  It's not perfect, but... And I still have to close the Google popup or I have performance issues with the BSA tools!  Mozilla -- PLEASE NOTE that my only real option is to switch to Chrome and I really would HATE to have to do that after using Firefox for more than a decade.

Get rid of Google sign-in.  Period.  This is just hanging out with the worst jerks that society has to offer.  Also I don't appreciate having to sign in to Mozilla community when I am already signed in.

They apparently won't. No idea why. Well, I have some idea... But never mind.
