Many times I am working on audio and I don't want to be disturbed by the sound of incoming email sounds. I would advice to implement an easy way on the main Thunderbird window to cancel or activate notification sounds from Thunderbird.

Please not in settings, but on the main window. I have Thunderbird always open, but sometimes I just want to cancel the sound for a while.

I think the best way to do it is to integrate Thunderbird with the "do not disturb" mode of your operating system. (Perhaps it's already integrated?)

This is not working for me ... my MacOS system is on do not disturb, but the sounds of Thunderbird just sound all the time. I cannot put out the sound completely, because I am working on a DAW. But the sounds of Thunderbird just come through. That's why I am suggesting for a mute button on Thunderbird itself.
