Current Situation:
The Firefox New Tab personalization menu allows users to choose solid colors, static abstract images, or custom uploaded photos. While users can technically upload .gif files manually using the "Add image" button, there is no dedicated, native gallery for dynamic backgrounds.
The Problem:
Users looking for a more dynamic and visually engaging New Tab experience currently have to manually find, download, and upload animated files (.gif) themselves. Furthermore, Mozilla already possesses beautiful animated brand assets that are completely underutilized within the browser itself.
Proposed Solution:
Introduce a new "Live Wallpapers" category in the New Tab wallpaper settings. Specifically, Firefox could natively integrate the stunning animated wallpapers already available in the Mozilla Brand portal (https://brand.mozilla.com/document/321). This would provide a premium, modern feel to the browser while maintaining brand consistency out of the box. To ensure a good user experience, a simple toggle could be included to pause the animations if the device is low on battery or to save system resources.
