Ability to annotate received email

When I use a banking machine, I'm given the opportunity to have the receipt emailed to me

Once I have downloaded the receipt into my Thunderbird programme, I would would like to annotate the email  to indicate what he bank machine receipt money was used for.

If I remember correctly, this was a feature in my old Eudora email programme
