YouTube has made it so that the video doesn't play properly when you use an external picture in picture tool (such as Firefox's) without a YouTube Premium account. I know this is 100% YouTube's fault, but I'm wondering if there's a fix that Firefox devs can do to ensure that YouTube picture in picture continues to work properly? The same way that ublock origin devs work tirelessly to ensure we can watch YouTube videos ad free?

Yes. Firefox could technically work around it, especially if YouTube is detecting Firefox’s PiP implementation.
The issue is that doing so would likely mean bypassing YouTube’s Premium restriction, rather than fixing a browser bug. Mozilla may therefore choose not to.
Technically possible; politically/policy-wise unlikely.
